Iceland's Blue Lagoon is the most popular attraction in the country, attracting an average of 2,000 guests a day and up to 5,000 guests in peak summer months. The Blue Lagoon is such an essential part of a visit to Iceland that there's even a Blue Lagoon shuttle bus that will take guests from their hotels in Reykjavik to the airport—with a two-hour geothermal spa stop in between. It's an ideal way to prepare for the long flight home. In 2016, visitors will actually be able to overnight at the Blue Lagoon itself. As you might have learned from our webisode about Icelandic elves (watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRvVmY5Vr98), many Icelanders have a certain respect for fairies, elves, trolls and other "nature spirits." To that end, when planning the construction of the hotel, the Blue Lagoon consulted an elf medium who communicated with the supernatural creatures and ensured that it was safe to build the Blue Lagoon hotel on their turf. Thankfully, for all of us, the elves gave their stamp of approval. For more awesome adventures in Iceland and beyond subscribe to my channel. Planning a trip to the Blue Lagoon? Blue Lagoon Iceland is a hot spring spa situated between Keflavik airport and Reykjavik. It only takes 20 minutes to drive there from Reykjavik. Don’t worry if you got all of your luggage with you, there is a secure luggage storage for you there for a low price. The lagoon is a magical bathing spot in the middle of the lava and it is full of silica mud and other minerals that are considered healthy for your skin. All the Blue Lagoon products are sold in a shop inside the service building and it’s a great idea to take a little bit of the experience with you in a bottle or to buy it as a gift for your friends and family at home. Don’t forget to try out the sauna and steam bath which is located next to the waterfall inside the lava cave. The water in the Blue Lagoon Iceland comes from a geothermal power plant which is situated next to the lagoon so it is a man made lagoon. The ingredients in the silica mud comes from the deep root of the volcanic earth. If you want to treat yourself and spend some money you can get an in water massage, an exclusive lounge where you’ll get a VIP treatment or get you something to eat at the Lava restaurant. There is also a luxury hotel situated a few hundred meters away from the lagoon where you can spend the night and take a bath in a small but privet lagoon. It’s an great idea to spend some time walking around and take some great pictures of the landscape next to the main building but be sure to walk on the footpaths because it’s easy to get lost in the lava or get hurt if you fall in all that rocks. We also recommend going to the viewing platform to take some pictures over the lagoon. Book your tour to the Blue Lagoon here: https://guidetoiceland.is/process/tou...
